Affordable Warmth Group Criteria

A person living at a domestic premise will be a member of the AWG if the person receives:

a) Child tax credit and has a relevant income of £16,010 or less

b) Income-related employment and support allowance and:

  • is receiving a work-related activity or support component
  • OR
  • is responsible for a qualifying child
  • OR
  • is in receipt of a qualifying component

c) Income-based job seekers allowance and:

  • is responsible for a qualifying child
  • OR
  • receives a qualifying component

d) Income support and:

  • is responsible for a qualifying child
  • OR
  • receives a qualifying component

e) State pension credit

f) Working tax credit and has a relevant income of £16,010 or less and:

  • is responsible for a qualifying child
  • OR
  • receives a disability element or severe disability element
  • OR
  • is aged 60 years or over

g) Universal credit and:

  • received a net monthly earned income of £1,250 or less in any assessment period in the previous 12 months.
  • AND
  • meets on of the following criteria:
    • * is responsible for a child or qualifying young person
    • * has limited capability for work, or limited capability for work and has work-related activity
    • * is in receipt of disability living allowance
    • * is in receipt of personal independence payment

Under (b) income-related employment and support allowance, (c) income-based job seekers allowance and (d) income support above, 'qualifying component' means:

h) Child tax credit which includes a disability or severe disability element

i) Disabled child premium

j) A disability, enhanced disability or severe disability premium

OR

k) A pensioner, higher pensioner or enhanced pensioner premium
